| This pattern is from the watermark area on the back of the 50,000-metical note. It is a typical pattern used by Thomas De La Rue and often appears arranged in hexagons, rather than squares, on banknotes they produce. The pattern above is used on all notes issued in Mozambique dated 1991 to 2003, with the exception of the 200,000-metical banknote. |
